At Robert Toombs House and Museum historic site, “there’ll be scary ghost stories and talks of the glories of Christmases long, long ago”. Locals have been invited to write Christmas ghost stories, and the winning entries will be read at an Evening of Christmas Ghost Stories to be read in front of the Christmas tree, December 20 and 21. Get your tickets early.
Speaking of ghost stories, you don't want to miss the special production by the Washington Little Theater and Ebenezer Scrooge’s visit from the ghosts of Christmas Past, Christmas Present and Christmas Yet to Come. December 6,7,8 and 13,14,15. Tickets are available at WashingtonLittleTheater.org.
For a glimpse of Wilkes County GA history and its importance during the Battle of Kettle Creek, one of the most significant revolutionary war battles fought in Georgia, be sure to plan to visit the Washington Wilkes Historical Museum. Originally built in 1835 and restored into a museum in the 1950’s, the museum houses an impressive collection of artifacts, including a topographical map of the battlefield as well as authentic antiques and pieces dated to the mid 1800’s, including items belonging to George Washington and Jefferson Davis.
Callaway Plantation, just outside Washington comprises a collection of period buildings including an original 1785 log cabin, Jacob Callaway’s original Grey House, built in 1790, and an impressive Greek Revival brick plantation manor house built in1869. Considered notable by the National Register of Historic Places, the museum is now operated by the city of Washington GA and is open for tours.

Boutiques and stores around the Square will be open late for shopping. This event is fun for all ages with holiday music, carolers, food trucks and even a SNOW MACHINE! Oh.What.Fun!
Washington Farmers Market is the place to find locally grown organic food, home-baked goods and hand-made treasures. Each Saturday at this local year-round market you’ll find seasonal produce, home baked goods, and crafts for great prices. Fall/Winter hours are 10-12pm and run November through March.
